Help Active SYnc does not connect via serial cable to X5

I just go my X5 and connected the serial cable to my laptop COM port. Active Sync fails to detect the X5. It indicates that COM1 and COM2 are not avaiable but COM3 and USB are available.

Any help is appreciated !

Same issue !

I was not able to find a solution. I am now using a USB cable.
If you find a way to do it with the serial cable, please let me know

Thanks
V.

Got it working

You have to disable the COM1 port in the hardware device manager, reboot the machine then enable it again. The AXIM should then connect OK.

A program is grabbing the COM1 port after boot that is why ActiveSync cannot access it.

Cheers

Many Thanks, Gary

Your idea of com port being used by another program solved my issue.
Indeed, my TomTom 3 GPS is using the com 1 and when I disabled the port in the GPS menu I was able to synchronize.
Now I need to find an other port to use the GPS to avoid to activate/desactivate it everytime I want to sync.

Many Thanks again for your help

V.
