Activesync and the Get Connected command

I connect to activesync by putting my axim on the cradle and turning it on if it isn't. It usually connects fine. The only issue I have is if Activesync disconnects for any reason while the ax is on and connected, the only way I can reconnect is by recradling the ax or by turning the ax off then back on. If I ever try the *Get Connected*option under the file menu in activesync it always tells me that no device was detected. Does anyone know why I cannot ever connect at all using the get connected option?
