my backlight doesnt come on!!

hey everyone!
this is kinda weird...and im just wondering if anyone here has come across this, but when I turn on my axim, the backlight doesnt come on! i have to hold down the power button for a while to get it to come back on!! does anyone know what might casue this or how to fix it?! thanks a bunch!

Users guide, page 12. The power button has two functions. A quick click is on/off, a long press is bright/dim. By holding the button down, you are dimming the screen, then holding it down again brightens it. Just quick click for on/off and the problem will go away.
