new animated aximsite logo

chris, sent me the photoshop file after I had some fun animating the logo to see what it looks like
heres the next new improved animated logo.

the limitation is that it can't exceed 20k.. now thats challenging actually.
i'm at 20k exactly.. got a shine, and lots o blinking.
=)

if it doesn't blink wait.. the first 5 secs are a held frame.

vote on how you like it.

comments appreciated..

sorry, can't make it glow.. remember gif animation is about change in pixels, and only 256 colors.
the more colors, the more change.. the bigger the animation.
we only got 20k to work here.
thats it.

Seems a little slow (the animation that is). I would decrease the delay between frames so that it's a little subtle.

the animation is timed out as follows
5 seconds hold on first and last frame.
flash across is 0 delay.
blinnking is .5 sec on.. 1 second off.

should enforce those speeds, any computer 1 ghz and up should see the anim with the correct timing.

I created a version with quick blinking.. it was distracting.
thats why i slowed it down to near axim blinking speeds.
=)

Sorry, I didn't even see the power light blinking the first time. I guess my computer was a little busy when I was watching it.

It looks metter now that I'm not doing as much. <shrug>

It looks great, except it might be distracting doing all that blinking at the top of the page. I would suggest just the light swipe at random intervals.

Just my opinion. :)

I think the light swipe, after a relatively long interval, and the blink after a realtively long interval (read: many seconds of blank) wouild be better, it would catch people off guard, and be more subtle. I love stuff like that :) Oh, and nice work with the gif animation, it looks great, I think yo ushould just play around with time tweaking a bit :p

Don't know much about web page design but as a comment about the flashing, think it looks great but could it in any way be linked to flash green for new posts and the orange for no new posts its a bugger to keep refreshing the page.

Use MNG instead of gif, its compressed and doesn't have any patents, its also got lot sof different colour modes, and a full alpha channel ;)

Patents for GIF's are only a concern if you are creating a GIF image, not using one.

As a developer, my company had a big concern about the GIF patient thing. Did about a week's hard research and found that the patent only refers to programs that create GIF's. Like PhotoShop, Paint Shop Pro, Visual Basic, etc...

If you write a program that turns a JPG into a GIF, then you need to be concerned too, however, you can use GIF's all you want with concern. :)
