transfer photos to Axim question...
I have a bunch of photos of my daughter on my pc that are 1280x960 resolution. I have gone into Adobe Photoshop and saved small resolution versions of the files, but it is very time consuming.
Does anyone know of an app that will automatically change the resolution of multiple files at a time? I really can't spend hours resizing these photos. NOTE: At their current 1280 x 960 size, these files are 500k +.
Thanks.

Sure... Irfanview!
http://www.irfanview.com/
It's a great, small, fast viewer that also does batch conversions. And it's free! Hard to beat that :)

A few questions on IRFANVIEW...
Is it a standalone program? Meaning can I invoke it when I want to or will it take over something else I've already got in place to view and edit my photos (say from the file explorer?)
When you batch downsize photos, does it retain the original size and names and copy the photos somewhere with different names or does it overwrite the existing file with the smaller file?
I've been looking for a program to do batch editing for a while now... just want to make sure I don't give myself more headaches by doing so.
TIA,
Donna

Irfanview is the bomb (i.e. the best). YOU can decide whether to associate with picture files (JPG, GIF, etc), movie files (MPG, AVI, etc) or leave the current associations and just start up Irfanview when you want to. It is a versatile program, and relatively small program (<1MB).

I just installed it, thanks to Nitro. It is a standalone program. And, yes, you can set the destination directory. Or if you want, you could set it to overwrite the original files. It looks pretty flexible. It took me 60 seconds to figure it out though.

I downloaded it - and another question arises...
If I select all to associate the files with IrfanView, what does that change for me elsewhere?
I don't understand how I can keep file explorer to view my thumbnails if I select IrfanView to associate all my files with. What will I see in Explorer? What I'm used to seeing or the IrfanView program? (haven't associated anything yet - too chicken - lol)
Lost here...

Donna - If by thumbnails you mean in a Web content enabled window you see the mini JPG or whatever on the left side of the window . . . that will not change. If you double click on a JPG file, it will now open in Irfanview, not Photoeditor or whatever the previous association was. Personally, I use Irfanview for all pix and video. It is easy and not memory intensive. Just recently figured how to set up proof sheets so I can print fewer pages for record keeping.

Don't associate anything if you are happy with how you currently view images on your pc. Associating files only effects what app will open the image if you double-click on it in Windows Explorer. I didn't associate when I installed Irfanview. I like my setup the way it is. Of course, if you have already installed with associating, there is a way to fix your old associations.
I hope that answers your question.

I decided not to associate anything - just clicked 'next'. It installed fine.
This looks like it's going to be exactly what I need to resize the massive amounts of pictures I sometimes need to email - thank you for the link and the advice.

Glad everyone likes it as much as I do! :)
Make SURE you check out all it's options... it's more powerful (and useful) than most other picture viewers. Heck, it took me a long time to "discover" the web thumbnail creator, heh heh. When all else fails... read the help file :)
