Battery Problems

My battery is either defective or somthing is messing up my system. I have 74% battery left i go to use an inferred remote control program and it enters sleep mode. So i try to power it back up and it enters sleep mode again. Finally i get it to wake up and stay on and it says i got 10% battery. I put it on the charger and i says that it is allready back to 100% in 5 minutes.
i called dell they said it is microsofts problem and is very common.
Is this true?

This low battery reading only happens after using the IR remote?
If it enters sleep mode, it's seeing 0% battery, or close to it.

If you soft reset at the point where it finally stays awake at 10%, does it change anything ... like the battery indication?

It's unlikely that the battery is really at 10%, as verified by the quick charging behavior. If it's just the IRR prog that does this, then maybe it's not ready for prime-time.

It may be a M$ problem, but it's definitely NOT very common. If it persists I'd call Dell and ask for a replacement. That should NOT happen.
