Yep, this is cool, all right. I've been using it for a couple of days, and it's very handy. Interestingly, it uses the same HTML display engine as PIE -- it's just a nicer wrapper around it.

Can both browsers be on the Axim at the same time?
Any installation quirks? Hints? Pitfalls?

Yes, PIE and ftxPBrowser can be used at the same time, if you wish. There's no real installation. It's been a couple of days so I might be misremembering, but I think you just get the PPC executable file when you download, which you then copy to the Axim wherever you want it. I put it on my SD card and put a link to it in my Launcher directory, and it works fine.

Yes - both browsers can coexist.
There is actually nothing to the installation. The file you will download is the actual .EXE. All you need to do is use ActiveSync to copy the file onto your Axim somewhere and then click on the file to run...that's it. (I assume it works this easily because it is mostly using the PIE code that is already on the system)
As to the browser itself...
I haven't played with it enough to warrant a final opinion, but my initial work with it does not leave me nearly as impressed as some of the posters on the Brighthand thread seem to be. It is certainly a step up from PIE in that you can have multiple windows open, but I don't see the speed or "Fit to window" improvements that others have noted. But with a price of $0.00 I will keep it.

The other advantage that some have noted is that you can save an image, which is occasionally useful.
I have a subjective impression that it opens new pages faster, but I haven't measured it. I haven't played with "fit to window" enough to have an impression of whether it's different from PIE or not.

This proggy rocks. Great find.
The "simply view" is a nice feature that forces a fit to the screen, at the expense of formatting -- but this often works because on a fair amount of pages, you simply can't read info on the page! The multi-tabbing works fast, and works well.
Finally an Avantbrowser-esque program for the Axim.
ftxPBrowser
(whatta name)
Nice.

Ahh...the "Simply view" must be the improved "Fit to Window" ability that folks on the Brighthand thread were referring to. I had selected the "Fit to Window" option and saw no difference in formatting between this and PIE. With "Simply View" selected however it is a whole different ballgame. Sites viewed this way are certainly not the prettiest things in the world, but it does remove the requirement for touching the horizontal toolbar, something that was driving me crazy as I read my morning newspaper on the Axim.

Just a bump so that folks notice the program was updated today. It now has fullscreen, which is very nice. Still can't add to favorites though, but I work around that by adding them with NetFront.
