Big Differences In Shipping Times?

I ordered my 300mhz Axim (only option was a cradle) on Dec 22, the estimated del. date is Jan 7. Also got the 2day shipping. Their status board said it was still in production yesterday so I went to Dells board and checked and they said it hadn't moved at all yet and may get shipped out on Jan 6. I am not impatient but I have been to several boards and it seems that people who have ordered way after I did have already gotten theirs. Wonder what gives? They sure aren't sending them out in the order they received them.

They may have back orders on the 300MHz models, they had the same problem in December with the 400MHz. "In Production" appears to mean " We ain't got any at the moment" or at least it felt that way when I had to wait for mine. Give it a day or two, it will be worth the wait...

I've been right there with ya, bigjohn. I sent off for mine on December 20th, and as of today [january four] it has just been put into transit. I'm sure yours is almost ready to be sent. *grins*

The lead time on the 300's was about 3-4 days longer than the 400's. Dell also has 5 different warehouses that they ship from so order numbers don't mean anything in terms of who's get shiped first. Mine took 14 days from order to in hand.

I ordered the 400 last night (The 3rd) and it is showing that it has already gone to UPS for Delivery. It should be here in two days. I can't wait.

ordered mine 2nd and it was "in transit" on the 3rd...today I received confirmation that i will receive it on Jan. 7. I ordered the 400mhz without extras, which may have helped. ;)

It's just a matter of getting stock up to meet demand....

My AXIM finally shipped today Mon Jan 6, one day before the estimated date. I guess that Christmas and New Years put a bug into their manufacturing and shipping prccess a little. Now I just hope and pray that it isn't one of the bad ones I have been reading about over at the Dell board. Maybe thats why it took a little longer too, they were trying to get the bugs out.

I'm with Howie and Meonlee. I ordered the 400 on the 3rd and it is listed as "In Transit" with a delivery estimate of the 7th.

I ordered my 400mhz model Saturday (1/4) and it shipped this morning. I got the next day shipping so I guess it will be here tomorrow. My friend ordered the 300mhz model Thursday (1/2) and his is still "in production", so there must be longer lag on the 300's.

I odered my 300 on Dec 27th, they set a ship date for the 17th of Jan. Almost a month!
I thought surely they were just being over cautious, but I dont think so anymore.
I'm not real happy about it since I know others who odered the same thing later than I, and they have it already.

I ordered my 400MHz version on 12/21 regular ground shipping and it arrived 12/27. My Christmas gift to myself.

On January 2nd, I ordered two of the 300 MHZ models at the same time with no accessories. All I did was change the number of units ordred in the shopping cart from a 1 to a 2. Now, by conventional wisdom, you would think they would most likely arrive on the same day, or at least close to it. My order confirmation email contained a separate order number for each unit and when I tracked the orders on the Dell Site, one unit has an estimated delivery date two weeks later than the other! I can't quite understand how Dell is processing their orders, but it certainly defies conventional logic.

I've had a 400 MHZ unit in my posession for the past couple of weeks and the order tracking was somewhat messed-up with it as well.

Oh well, as long as they're delivered sometime this month, I'll be happy.

I ordered mine the 4th and as of this morning it is "shipped." No 2nd day shipping, so we'll see when it arrives. In the mean time I'm reading all the good information - thanks to all you techno's.
