Active Sync with Office 2003

Good afternoon. I recently bought a new PC. Running MS Win XP Pro with the service pack. Also I have Office 2003 Pro. I have set up an Outlook Profile specifically for the X5 so I can keep favourites, calander and contacts only synced. I can connect and browse the X5 from the PC, and the favourites also sync. What doesn't sync are the contacts and calander. During synchronisation I get a Windows Message box which states, "Microsoft Outlook is no longer installed, so ActiveSync cannot continue to run. To continue synchronisation, reinstall MS Outlook. If you no longer want to synchronise your data, disable synchronisation in Active Sync."

Would anybody know about this problem?

The databases on your Axim are confused. They don't know what to now that it is detecting Outlook 2003.

You could start by deleting your ActiveSync profile on your PC. Then cradle your Axim & create a new profile.

If not, you may have to hard reset and start from scratch, but lets try other methods first :)

I just had the exact same damn problem. Out of nowhere. I mean, I didn't change anything in Office 2003 OR on my Axim. We'll see what happens when I delete the partnership.

Nope. Deleting the partnership gave the same result. I know Outlook is installed....I'm using the damn thing. I don't think a hard reset will cure anything, it's an ActiveSync error of it not detecting Outlook.

GRRRR

And you know, the above poster is one of the examples of why I don't come to this site very often anymore. :(

Actually, he has a valid point. It looks like for whatever reason, the PC has lost its connection to Outlook.

Reinstalling Outlook could be the answer to your problem.

I would run the Inbox Repair Tool on your PST file, then compact it. This involves less hassle, and could resolve the issue. I run the inbox repair tool on my pst file @ least every month, and I compact it weekly . . .

I'm curious if anyone had a cure for this, re-installing Outlook 2003 is not really an easy option for me (company PC, etc.). Thanks.
