This has been a good week so far (knock on wood). I surprisingly received my Canadian rebate of $80 from the December 2002 promotion. You're probably saying big deal, but this was sort of a double rebate case. There was a posting in December about an EVAL code that discounted the Axim 300 MHz units $80, plus Dell at that time was offering a rebate of $80 also. Many of us Canadians were grey in this area whether Dell would warrant both rebates. Several calls were made to Dell customer service and different answers were given, some said yes and some said no.
Well, I figure it wouldn't hurt to send in the rebate anyways. Worst come to worst I still got the EVAL code discount. 2 days ago, I received my other $80 rebate in the mail .. YES! This would put the total of my Dell Axim 300 Mhz unit to $290 tax in, delivered with cradle. Gotta like that, it's cheaper then a Sony Mono Clie :) Not to mention that I sold my old pocketpc for $150 so technically I paid $140 for my Dell :).
Also, this is not such a big deal, but I found a great net browser alternative to PIE, ftxPBrowser.....and it's free! Much better browser then PIE and cheaper then Netfront or ThunderHawk. You can read the review on my
site . Plus, to top it off, I finally found a great site for my local movie listings and weather report to sync with my Avantgo, both of these I've been looking for a long time, hard to find for Canadian cities. This week has just added a few more notches to the usefulness of my PocketPC.
