I have XP pro on my box with the drive formatted in NTFS and all I have to do is share a folder and I have access to it. Axim sees the contents and can copy from it no prob. My share permissions just have everyone in it with only read access. so your previous post is correct. I removed everyone and only added my xp username (which does need a pass to log into the computer) and the axim bypassed it also.

Another interesting thing I found is that the username/password that the Axim prompts for is completely useless when going to an XP share. Enter any username you want and any password you want (a combo that is not recognized on your XP box) and you will be granted access. This is most likely due to the fact that everyone has read access. I'm not real sure why that prompt is there if it simply does nothing. Maybe it does work on Windows 9x shares (I don't have anything to test it with).

Try reading at www.PocketMatrix.com. They have a pretty comprehensive discussion of all video on PPCs, plus a step-by-step process to create videos for the PPC.

tfelmly...seems as you have this figured out so maybe you can help me. I have Win XP Pro, wireless network with two computers on it, can access files between them no problem. I have the firewall turned off. I have the folder shared like you desribed. I am using total commander and I type in \\computername\sharedfolder, but I get an error box on my axim.....error while connecting. You mentioned in your post to use the \\computername\username. What user name? The one you log into XP with? If so I tried that and get the same error. Any suggestions for me to try?

I'm making progress....I can get on the computer that has the router connected to it. But I can't access the other computer that has a wireless connection. Seems if it's on my network I should access it the same as the one connected to the router. Any ideas??

Be sure that you are using the following for the username:

computername\username

Note that I don't have the \\ in this case. Only use the \\ when navigating to a share.

Also make sure you fill in the domain field with either your domain name or workgroup name.

I've noticed that anything for the username will work. Just make sure you have the proper computername and domain/workgroup.

I've been using File Explorer so I cannot comment on the app you are using.

As long as your share permission is set to everyone read, you sould be set.
