Wifi CF card not working!
I have an Ambicom CF wifi card, and it is acting strangely. I am within the range of an access point, and the green light goes solid. However, i cannot access the internet, connect to aim, or anyhting. Using the utility that came with the card, i can see the signal strength, name of the server and everything. It just wont connect to anything. No errors messages, no nothing. I am close enough to the access point, like 20ft away. I have heard something about it being my connection settings, so i set them all to work, and modified it so that it says this connection connects to the internet. Still wont work. I have tried soft resets, unplugging the card, messing with the settings, and it still wont work!

I have the same card, all the setings should set to work. How are you getting an ip address? Make sure you have a default gateway and dns addy. Try to ping the loop back adapter 127.0.0.1 that will test the card, then ping the Ax's ip, then the gateways ip, then something on another subnet or the internet.

Ok, it wont ping anything but 127.0.0.1 at all. Says server timed out. I have tried on 5 different APs around my school, and 1 at home. It is giving me signal strength, and when i go AP browser the AP is there.

127.0.0.1 is the Axim itself, so it's not pinging anything. Make sure the SSID is entered on the configuration screen. It will 'see' the networks but not connect until you enter the SSID of the network you want to connect to.

I have the same card and I got it to work with no problem. I did have a problem with a bogus DLink card but that was another story.
Anyway, I would say to definately give it an ip address (at school I guess ask the network admins what the range for the ip addressess is) and at home just give it one within your range. I do that with mine at home and the one here at work. Works like a charm.
Hope this helps

Sorry to ruin the fun for you guys but I believe I have fixed his problem.
I told him to make the settings to
Internet Settings/Internet Settings/Work
I know this from past experience and having the same exact problem.

On this screen you will see the SSID of all WAPs you can receive, wherever you happen to be. Look for your router name on this screen.
On this screen enter that router name where you see the ANY right now. The two should connect. If you have DHCP on the router, the IP will be set for you.
For more, read this thread.
**Thanks, Chris, for putting the pictures up. I just linked to yours!**
