Switching SD Cards fom 256m to 1g

I have most of my programs loaded on an 256m SD card. I have a new 1g SD on the way. Am I going to be forced to reload all programs or can I just copy all to an intermediate media such as a hard drive then copy back to the new SD? Are there hidden files that would not be copied?

Thanks

You can just copy them across - I do this all the time.

It really helps to have a card reader for your PC (especially with 1GB!).

BTW: welcome to the site - you will learn ALOT of very useful stuff here to get the most out of you toy (sorry I mean productivity machine )

Card Reader?

I think I've seem something about a USB for the computer system but is there something directly for the Axim? If for the system do they make one for both SD and CF?

By the way I'm been on for a while but I was 4Nails. Ended up chaning my last name (don't ask) and had to reregister as my password was associated with an e-mail which I killed. So I just added another nail and started over. Within two days I should have a 1gig SD and a 1gig CF. WooHoo!

I don't know of one that could be used directly with the Axim, I was referring to using your PC.

With both the SD and CF card in you Axim at the same time you should be able to copy from your existing SD to the CF - then put in your new SD and then copy back from the CF to the new SD card without any problems (no idea what sort of speed you would get - or how long it would take - but it wouldn't be quick )

I'm not going to even consider asking about the change of name :)

Just a thought make sure you have a backup of the PPC before doing so. Can never be too "prudent"

It is too bad that Dell didn't put 2 SD slots in these Axim x 30 units. I just bought a 256 card to go with my 512 card and lt would be nice to just be able to put both in at the same time. oh well.
