I discovered a bunch of temp files on my Axim. Does anyone know if it's ok to delete them as you do on a desktop pc? I assume they're taking up valuable storage or RAM space. The files all begin w/ 'IMT****.

With all applications closed, anything not dated today is probably safe to delete. But I would bet that if you did a soft reset they might disappear anyway. The O/S is much better than pc windows at cleaning up behind itself.

I use the cleanup utility that came with Gigabar. Works like a champ.

I delete my temp files ALL the time. I just deleted over 1000 of them today, and I have not had any problems. Just go to edit, select all, and then hold the stylus on the screen and when the menu pops up, choose delete. It took me awhile, because I had a good amount. So do not worry if it doesn't just automatically clear out.

Rayenne, did you delete *all* of your temp files? Because I did the other day and immediately had major major pains in my Axim. My active sync wouldn't recognize the device, my inbox was gone, it was a total mess. I only realized after a hard reset that I had done the damage... not that the Axim was imploding. But I did delete all of the temp files, so that's probably the difference between you cleaning out your files, and my really cleaning out my files. ;)

I am hesitant to try again.

Is there a setting to delete automatically after so many K? Where can that be adjusted?

Raynne,

That worked fine for me...all my temps are gone and everything seems to be ok.

Thanks.

Rayne,

I followed your instructions for deleting temp internet files and got a message that I was not allowed to delete them. Are you talking about temp files other than internet temps and if so, where are they? Thanks. Oh and I get that same message when I try to delete the cookies. Rose

I am not sure about Temp internet files because I don't use my Axim with the Net. The one time I used my laptop for the net, it crashed and i had to format and start over, so I am a little paranoid about using it for that. But the temp files I was talking about are just normal temp files. Use File Explorer and from the drop down menu choose My Device, and then Temp. You can then choose edit in the lower left corner, select all, and then hold until the pop-up menu comes up, and choose delete.

Donna,
Yes, I deleted all of my TEMP files, but I don't use my Axim for the net, or email, so that might be why I have had no problems.

I got the BatteryBar 2002, and it has a clean-up button.
Opens a window w/ checkboxes for Temp files, Cookies, Temp internet files, and auto delete every hour.
So far so good. When you use it, it reports how much space was freed up.
