This is a great website

Hello,

This is my first post here on the forum. I just wanted you guys to know that you have done such a great job with this website and the information you have gathered here.

I'm a Senior technician in the wireless support department at Dell and I also handle a few Axim calls when they have wireless issues.

Where appropriate I try to direct people to your website, you have a great resource here and great forums.

Thanks Craenor.
Can you offer any tech info regarding hardware design and function? I have some questions about the charging circuits, and there isn't much to go on except what's in the manual.
You could be our contact inside!

Well...much as I might like to pass on engineering specs and stuff like that. the official line is that they are not available, with the exception of what may be posted on the website and in the user manuals.

Of course, there is also the complicating factor...that I don't know anything about the insides of it. :)

Do you handle bluetooth issues as well?

Dell doesn't have many bluetooth items out currently, but we'll have more in the near future...yes, I handle bluetooth as well though.

Maybe you can answer this then. Why is it so much harder to move a file (let's say mp3) from the axim to the pc than it is from the pc to the axim?

Maybe the more appropriate question is...Is this a common problem or does this signal some problem with my bluetooth card or dongle?

The ability to push data to another bluetooth device is dependent in part on the power the device draws. The bluetooth card in the Axim just doesn't have the power that the other unit does. So it sends a bit slower.

Receiving is less power intensive and usually doesn't have this problem.

Thx for the support and for the referals Craenor! We strive to be just as helpful, or more if possible, then the official Dell staff when it comes to Axim related issues. I hope you like the community and stick around.

later!

Well, you guys have the advantage of having Axim's to play with day in and day out. I can get my hands on one when I want to try something, but otherwise haven't logged near as many hours as many of the posters here actually using the Axim.

Granted, I know more about wireless networking, operating systems, file sharing and the technology behind them then most users, but experience actually using the Axim makes a big difference.

I wouldn't hesitate to say that for many support issues, customers could get an answer here more quickly and more completely then they might get from me.
