Gomadic Cables (what they don't tell you)

I don't know if its been discussed because I haven't seen it on the board. In my emails with Gomadic they've explained that you cannot use Express Network and the Axim together. The reason they gave me is because both are consider usb perih.... instead of hosts. I can get my T720 to respond and connect using express network however its still slow as hell. If anyone has a possible work around solution maybe a possible registry hack... please let me know. Thanks

USB technology defines two types of equipment, Hosts and Devices. Hosts can have multiple Devices attached, Devices can attach to one Host, but Devices cannot attach to Devices.

Axim is a Device, not a Host. It lacks the software to drive the Host functions and no registry hack will fix that. Tosh has a Host function, through an add on pack, I think.

So, if what you want to connect to is a Device, you simply cannot do that without additional hardware. There is a company that makes a CF Card USB Host, do a google for it, or search this site, someone had a link a couple of weeks ago.

I've spoken with Gomadic with regards to my Cable problem. I must say that they do have great customer service. I explained to them that I wanted to purchase a cable for a Kyocera 2235. They were nice enough to let me keep the Moto Cable as well as send a new one for the Kyocera. If anyone is still sitting on the fence and trying to decide which company to go with.... I'd definitely purchase from them. I'm going out of town this week. But I'll be doing a full review of ExpressNetwork and the Gomadic Cable.
