I am using a Bluetooth CF adapter in my Dell laptop and my Nokia 6310i Cell
Phone on AT&T GSM/GPRS I can get to the Exchange Server either on OWA or
on VPN thru the Internet. I have not tried RAS dial-in because of the
Instant Internet on GPRS. (would take more time to dial-in)

However, I can not access the exchange server with either of these from my Dell
Axim PPC. I am not sure if RAS Dial-in will work either. I have tried it
but obviously do not have the settings correct...even if it will work.

Someone mentioned a co. called Visto but I travel alot and do not have a constant Desktop connection. (i.e. bothLaptop and PPC are always with me-no other computer of mine is on corp. network full time) Also, I have one local co-worker with a similar
situation. (no full time desktop) Corp. Headquarter is on East Coast and I am on West Coast.

How can I remotely access my Corp, email? (i.e. walking down the street) I
am frustrated now and getting ready to put the PPC in the closet and wait
until Technology catches up with itself. so much for being a technology
pioneer.

HELP!

Frank

I had been using OWA from other peoples computers to access my email remotely.

When I got my Axim, the IT folks didn't want to install an MIS which makes this task much easier for mobile devices. If you try to access OWA on the Ax thru a cell connection it is not compatible with PIE. You can not see any messages. you can log in, but it does you no good because you cant even see the message headers.

VPN also does not work unless you use like PC anywhere, office online (ATT) etc. something has to be installed either on the server or you have to have a desktop on the network ALWAYS online. Pain in the Butt for me as all I have is a laptop that travels with me.

So......

I used my inbox on the PPC to draw new messages out of OWA by treating it like a POP3 account.

("proxy1.######.com/exchange/" is what I would type into ANY web browser to access corp. email)

example:

Incoming mail: Proxy1.##########.com
Outgoing mail: proxy1.##########.com
Domain name: ###wan

This worked to pull newer messages (adjustable by PPC Settings) even though they did not show as read until after you read them on the PPC and then pull new messages off again. It is not a "real time" Connection, just drawing them off. The messages still stayed on the server so I could still open and reply to them later at my desktop/laptop if they weren't urgent. If they were urgent I could still send messages this way, but it doesn't leave a copy on the server, desktop or laptop. It only leaves a copy on the PPC. I wouldn't do this if you need to keep a paper trail.

Got it!

Yes either thru OWA or VPN remotely or just plug in at thje office.

IT and everyone else that I talked to said this wouldn't work....but it does. And this is the just stuff you need to know to connect to the network from home or a hotel somewhere.
