Bluetooth Manager?!?!?
Hello,
I am having quite a problem. I have a Dell Axim X5, and the TrueMobile 300 Bluetooth card. Today I purchased a Kensington Bluetooth USB adapter for my laptop.
I am trying to access the Internet through my Wireless card VIA the Bluetooth adapter. I have installed the applications on my laptop that came with the USB Bluetooth fob.
I am able to connect my PDA to my Laptop for file transfers, etc, but I do not have the "Bluetooth Connection Manager" software installed on my PDA. I have seen this software in many posts on how to use bluetooth, but I can not find this software anywhere.
Any help on where I can locate this software? I have searched google, yahoo, and all over the PDA, I am either blind, or this thing is hard to find! Thanks in advance!

yes and no
Yes, but it is not the same application that I saw in the "HOWTO Bluetooth" document on this website. It only lets me bond to devices. It does not let me turn on the Network sharing, etc etc. I called Dell's tech support, and they have no clue what I am even talking about, they say it is an application I have to download. Does someone know where the executable resides? Maybe I can run it from there.

You might want to try this:
On the laptop, Open the bluetooth settings, go to the COM Ports tab, add an incoming port. Install ActiveSync.
On the Axim, open the bluetooth manager, click New, then select Connect to ActiveSync through Bluetooth.
Open ActiveSync on the laptop and use the Get Connected (file->get connected) to have ActiveSync accept a serial port connection, while at the same time, tell the Axim to connect.
It is a bit tricky getting them both timed correctly, but once you have connected, it will allow you to setup a guest relationship with ActiveSync (you can use a perm. relationship as well)
ActiveSync will then act as a bridge between your BlueTooth connection and the Internet connection on the Laptop.
It works for me.

Start | Settings | Connections | Bluetooth.... in this menu all I see is "Mode", "Bonded Devices", and "COM Ports". Under Mode I am given the option to then Bluetooth On, Off, or Discoverable. Under Bonded Devices, I am only shown devices I have connected to, and the option to connect to a "New..." device, no other option. Then on COM Ports, I am given the option "To create a new virtual COM port, tap New. Tap and hold a bluetooth device for more options.". The "more options" are "Edit" and "Delete".
Nowhere on my Axim do I see the ability to create a new ActiveSync connection via Bluetooth, etc. Is my PocketPC 2003 outdated? I contacted Dell to get the Second Edition, but they have been no help thusfar.
Any thoughts?

When using a BT Card that does not use the Widcomm drivers and the BT Manager it is a little different. In most cases you will see a BT icon in your task tray on the today screen. If you tap on it you should get a menu with BT options. What options do you have?

When I click on the two arrows, one pointing to the right, one pointing to the left, I see:
Connectivity
Turn Bluetooth off <link>
The Internet <tab> PC connection
Settings <link> [HIDE]
"Settings" takes me to the "Connections" screen, where I can select Beam, Bluetooth, Connections, etc. "Bluetooth" is where I was explaining before about the bonded devices, and that's about it.
The Bluetooth adapter in my laptop however is a Kingston, and is in fact running a WIDCOMM driver. I think my Axim is just lacking the system software I need. I am running Pocket PC 2003, I remember people talking about upgrading to Pocket PC 2003, Second Edition. Is this a requirement? Is the better Bluetooth Connection Manager installed in PPC2k3 SE?

It is not so much an OS thing since the X5 does not have BT integrated in the first place.
What type of BT card are you using with the X5?

In my X5 I am using the Dell TrueMobile 300 Bluetooth CompactFlash Card. In my Laptop, a Dell Latitude D600, I am using a Kensington Bluetooth USB Adapter with the WIDCOMM drivers, or support program or whatever.
