Ok, now I have WM2003 installed I was hoping it would resolve the font issue, but alas no way to adjust the font (that I've found yet). So without shelling out any more cash, how can I make the system font larger? Is it possible.
Fixing font sizes should be illegal, shame on you Microsoft!

RegKing (Freeware) can increase the font size to 15, 16 or 17 point.It can also make it Bold, Italic or Frutiger Linotype.

It can also enable ClearType in all applications.
