does anyone has encountered this problem?
Synchorniazation cannot be started because you are not able to log on to the network and access information. Restart your desktop computer and sychronize again. If the problem persists, contact your network administrator.
CALENDAR, CONTACTS, TASKS and NOTES does not sync... shows ATTENTION REQUIRED

I was having this problem. I was using Outlook Express. I had to set up my email account through Microsoft Outlook 2003 and then it worked just fine. Hope this helps. - Tracy

I am new to this board today, but have been going throught the same issues with Dell on there forum.
I have updated to Active Sync 3.8 with no changes so far. I also spent about an hour online with a Dell tech that said to run the "detect & repair" optin in MS Office 2003. I have not gotten to work get to get the disk needed to do this, but there was another post from someone that had tried this and it worked. I am still waiting and am totally frustrated after 5 hours yesterday trying to resolve this problem.

Need more info
Tell us what operating system you're running and what service packs (if any).
Since you said you're running ZA, etc., you might check to make sure your firewall isn't blocking the traffic. If you're running XP and recently loaded Service Packe 2, then the built-in firewall is the most likely culprit. the quickest way to tell is disconnect your computer from the internet, temporarily disable all firewalls and antivirus programs. See if you can sync. If you can, turn them back on one at a time until you can't sync anymore. Then you'll know.

I just found this thread, because I was having a similar problem with the "attention required" for calendar, contacts, tasks. I did a few things, deleting partnership, and then re-establishing it. That didn't work.
Then, I backed up my x30, and then did a hard reset. I was still getting the same error.
I found this link in the Microsoft Site's knowledgebase:
Microsoft's Knowledgebase ActiveSync Issue
I tried the first method. I registered this dll manually, Oleaut32.dll. Then it worked. I also had the desktop overwrite the pda's information, too. It works now.
Hope this helps. :)
Just in case it becomes a dead link here is the information:

SYMPTOMS
After you install Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1, Windows CE-based devices may not be able to synchronize with Microsoft Outlook 2000 by using ActiveSync. The ActiveSync Status window may display the following messages after synchronization:
One or more information types cannot be synchronized.
-and-
Attention required
"Attention required" is displayed as the status for all Outlook 2000 information types in Details view in the ActiveSync Status window.
All non-Outlook information types, such as files, are synchronized correctly.
CAUSE
During the Office 2000 SR-1 installation process, the Oleaut32.dll file is not properly registered.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use any of the following methods.
Method 1
Register the Oleaut32.dll file manually: 1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. Type RegSvr32 Oleaut32.dll, and then click OK.
You should receive a message stating that the file is correctly registered.
Method 2
Run the Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 Repair utility.
Method 3
Obtain the Microsoft Office 2000/Microsoft Windows 2000 Registry Repair utility from the following Microsoft Web site:

Axim deleting mail when read
The company I work for just upgraded from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2003. I have and Axim X50V and have 2 issues (that I know of):
1. If I view an unread message on the Axim and then tap OK, the message is moved to the Deleted Items folder. This does not seem to occur on messages that have already been read.
2. If I accept a meeting notice using the Axim and tell it to send the response to the sender, the meeting notice is moved to the Deleted items folder and the meeting does not appear on my calendar.
I've only had the Axim for a short period of time, but I don't think these things were happening until we changed to Outlook 2003.
Anybody know the cure?
Thanks, Mike

Look at your preferences in Outlook
It sounds like you may have some of your preferences for how appointments are handled and read e-mail is handled in Outlook are set for deletion or similar in the e-mail options -> advanced options. Examine all your various options for things to be delete or moved to the Deleted folder in automatic processing, especially for calendar items.
Also, in ActiveSync look at the preferences for each of the folders sync'd (i.e., Inbox, Calendar, etc.) to see if you have things set the way you really want them (i.e., do things in Outlook override things on the PocketPC or vice versa?). Last, but not least, look at the options on your PocketPC Inbox to see if they might be adding to the issue.

I called Dell and we went through all the settings. The settings were all OK. I'd already done a soft reset on the Axim, had restarted the computer. They had me do a soft reset on it anyway. No improvement. Then they had me do a hard reset on it. Problem solved, but what a PITA. Especially having to set up the Bluetooth all over again. (I'm using the wireless connection to my desktop at work because the first Axim X50V and cradle toasted two motherboards and a power supply and the IT folks and I don't trust this one to be hardware connected to the desktop.) At least Dell provided the Bluetooth adapter for the desktop.
Needless to say, I'm not real happy with Dell right now. I've only had this thing a little over a month now. If the hard reset is going to be a monthly task, I'll either get real good at it, Dell will be buying it back, or you'll see the POS on eBay. It's great when its working, but...
I've wasted probably 20x more time at work than it has saved me. I hope it behaves better in the future.

i just had the same problem. I upgraded to the new active sync, and it still didn't work, so i did the office upgrades through Microsoft. The activesync then recognized the Contacts, Inbox, etc. and worked perfectly. :approve:

as i am so into the convenience of sync-ing wirelessly (via wifi) i often get the same error. sometimes a simple disconnecting and reconnecting of the usb sync cable/cradle will do the trick, i.e., you have to use it especially on the initial sync after clean install or upgrade of software as Outlook, AS or OS for that matter. try this trick...
