Avantgo won't update on Memory Card

I cannot get Avanto to sync to my SD card. Instead I get an error message telling me to visit the Avantgo website to update my software.

Syncs to internal memory work fine.

Here's what I did in the hope that someone can tell me where I've gone astray:

Installed, configured and sync'd Avanto to internal memory.

Used Regking to change location of Avantgo data. .

Copied Avanto folder from Windows directory to SD Card.

checked refresh all content at next sync box

Did soft reset and resync---resulting in error message to visit Avanto site to update software.

If I use regking to un-apply hack, Avantgo will sync normally to RAM.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated -- including confirmation that others have been able to sync Avanto to storage card on AXIM. Thanks in advance.

Do you have a SanDisk SD card? I ran into the same problem and it turned out to be the 256mb SanDisk card that I was using. Many people here have listed numerous problems with these cards corrupting data. Once I replaced the card with a different brand it worked fine. The other thing to try is after you move the folder to the SD card, launch the activesync window on your PC (with your axim in the cradle), right click on the "AvantGo Connect" listing in the "information type" column and select settings. On the settings page, select properties. About two-thirds of the way down is a box that says "refresh all content at next sync". Check this box then close all the windows and click on "sync" from the main activesync window. Good luck

Actually my card is a 256 SanDisk, but it worked fine on my previous PPC (a Casio EM500). Maybe I will try deleting the Avantgo folder on the SD card and copying again.

One other thought I had is that on my EM 500, the storage card appeared in File Explorer as "Storage Card"; in the Axim, it appears as "SD Card" -- I wonder if perhaps Regking is altering the registry to look for "Storage Card" rather than "SD Card" ?

Reg King does change the path to \Storage Card\AvantGo. You will need to edit your registry to change it to SD card. It is under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Softeware\AvantGo. The Key is Database Location. Change the String Value to \SD Card\AvantGo, and that should do it.

I had this same problem...so what I did, was create the directory on my SD Card so it was

/SD Card/avantgo

changed the registry entry to reflect that...then I copied the contents of the /windows/avantgo directory to the SD Card (in the avantgo directory I created)

It took a while, but it fixed the problem.

I synced using (refresh all on next sync) and tested it one more time, then I deleted the contents of /windows/avantgo just to make sure, and sure enough, it worked. For some reason if you've already synced into the /windows/avantgo directory and you *just* do the registry change, it doesn't seem to 'take'

Hope this works for you, it fixed my problem which seemed to be exactly what you're experiencing.

Did you have the same problem with any other programs that run off of or store data on the SD card? I'm not real enthusiastic about poking around in the registry on a reguolar basis . . .

could you post the steps you follow to manually do this...

OK, you simply need to use a registry editor...that was difficult!
