Opps, dropped the Axim ! !
Has anyone dropped their Axim yet? :exc:
No, I have not dropped mine and hope I never do. But I am curious if anyone has dropped theirs and what was the damage?
How high of a drop? What type of surface did it hit? What was the damage to it?
Let's hear your stories guys and gals so we'll know what to expect if that dreadful day ever comes.
Thanks,
Dellman

Thanks jda5id
:D Thanks for the link to that thread. After reading those stories I feel much better about a potential mishap. I'll still be extremely careful but it appears that it will take some serious abuse without being distroyed.
Peace,
Dellman

I never intended to drop mine. In the last occassion I got tangled in the earphone cord and off the desk it went. It is such a sick feeling in the pit of the stomach.

I ride on an ambulance, not an exactly rough job, but it is a bit more than riding a desk. It never leaves the firetruck though. I keep it in my thigh pocket, sometimes in it's case, but more often out of it. I use mapopolis and lots of games where we spend lots of time on calls. 24 hours can end up being a long shift. I have had my axim just over 5 weeks now and it is showing no signs of abuse or even use.
I hope there will be some Fire/EMT software developed for the OS, right now Palm has the corner on the market.
I just got my truemobile card today...works great in my house.

What kind of Fire/EMT software do you want? There is a db called HanDBase that has a few thousand applications written and downloadable. Some are medical, so there may be something for Fire/EMT use. www.ddhsoftware.com is the website.

I went to the park with my girlfriend and we were watching the sunset and feeding ducks at the lake...it fell out of my pocket and slid down the bank stopping about 5 feet from 6 foot of water...guess who climbed down to get it...she's the best...thank God I had it in my case!

Basically we use a system called Edin, What that does is allow us to capture the entire run on a form, right now we write everything by hand and then enter it in to a computer. I have been looking also for a med database as well. The best I have seen is epocrates, they plan on have a Pocket PC version this spring.

Not me
I used a Wizard for a couple years, I had a Visor for many years, and I've had my Axim for a few months. I've never dropped any of them.
I gave the Visor to my girlfriend once I got my Axim, and she launched it from her lap, onto a concrete floor. It cracked the entire left side of the case, on top. But there was no damage to the screen, and it still works great.

dropped mine a few days ago, got tangled up with my headphones here at work, now I notice some of the paint chipped and I can see white underneath... Still works fine though.

ValuableHost.... You might want to start a new thread. MobileVB will let you write PPC apps in a Visual Basic environment and use your palm database.
