How do you change the transparency level for the start menu? I am creating a dark background theme and the start menu needs to be less transparent so that I can read the black text.
You can do in the theme generator under advance settings (i think that's what it's called. I'm at work right now) Why don't you make the text a different color so it's easier to read?
I just got ICbar last night, and it allows you to skin the comand bar too. 240 x 26. Their default buttons are 17 x 17, but I'm going to try some other dimensions too see if they will work or get clipped off.

I don't see an option to change the text color of the programs listed in the start menu. All my other text is white and looks great. I checked Advanced and didn't see it there either.... <_< I assumed you could not change color of the text for the programs in the start menu, since each and every theme I have also has black text in the start menu, but they have varying levels of transparency.
I just tried again, and I simply can't figure it out. Has anyone been able to get the text (program names) listed down the left of the screen when you press start to be any other color than black? (I am using MSs Theme Generator for PocketPC on my desktop PC.) The themes I do have all have black text there. I'm just trying to get my killer theme working. I mean, it works, but I can't read the text in the start menu.
I have not found a way to change the text color for the start menu options.
Instead, what i do is on the second screen in the Theme generator... the one where it says to either use the image from the today screen or to use a different image... i choose the later. I then scroll to find the SAME image that i use for the today screen, and then just lighten the opacity/transparency a little to make the text visible. The resulting image is a start menu with the same background as the today screen... just a little bit lighter...kinda a neat effect if it is lined up properly.
I am unable to get the Microsoft Theme Generator to work. It says the exe file is linked to a bad dll. I've tried to repair, remove-restart-reinstall, only install the theme generator and not the theme changer. Not sure what to do. I know this isn't a Microsoft-technical-support forum, but it seems like everyone here was able to get it working. Any ideas? Any other programs that do the same thing?
I really want to get a Steeler Today Screen before the game this weekend!
What Operating System are you using? I am pretty sure that Microsoft's Theme Generator only works on Windows XP and 2000... could that be the culprit?
If so, there are a number of shareware programs that do the same thing on older versions of windows. If your OS is the problem, you can probably download a demo of another program to see if it works for you.
I am running Win98 2nd Ed. On the web page, right above the "download now" button it says "This download is intended for use on English Windows 98, Windows 2000 and Windows XP."
I did a quick google search for "pocket pc theme maker" and came across this article reviewing different theme generation software. I myself have been thinking of trying out KAMware's Theme Maker because i am going theme crazy and want to try a more robust program, but haven't found the time to play with it yet.
Has anyone else played with other programs besides Microsoft's?
They have a ton of themes and I think there is a generator there too. I have no idea what it is like though. I found some Steelers themes that may have to keep me satisfied until I can get a generator. I would like to get the Microsoft Generator working if it is posible, mainly because it is free. :P
