I own my Axim since December 24. Ive always used the screen protectors that i ordered from Dell itself. Today, as always, i put my PocketPC in say....my pocket. When i put it out to use it, The screen protector was full of dust like spots BENEATH the surface. I dont understand how the heck that happened, i never take those protectors off. Anyway, i though it was just some kind of dust, i removed the screen protector and to my surprise , the dust didnt come out, it was stuck in the protector and even worst, an small altough visible spot (doesnt look like a scratch, its round) of the same dust is in the damned screen and wont come out with anything. I know the spot is not under the screen cause when i pass the stylus over it it feels bumped.
What the hell happened? Why that damn spot appeared beneath the screen protector and OVER THE SCREEN!! How do i remove it??
PLEASE HELP!! I payed $500 for all this thing and now i get this....
Sounds like a job for Dell tech support. Give them a call, explain the problem and they will most likely authorize a return and ship you a new one if there is a defect. Bonne chance!
Is there any kind of cleaning solution i could try first before sending the Axim? Im in south america and the change process would take like 2 months at least.
That is exceedingly unlikely. If the surface has been damaged, it is, as they say, damaged.
On the other hand, you might try a stick-on type protector to see if it conceals the spot(s).
Usually a damaged surface has to be polished down to new material to effect repair, and I doubt that would be possible with a touch screem membrane. Too soft.

But how could it happen? i had the creen protector on and the dust appeard UNDER the screen protector, its like the protector itself melted and left a bump over the screen. Any one has any ideas?
My Dell protectors do not adhere to the screen. It slides all over the place, and it is quite capable of getting grit under it.
I work in construction environments, and because of this I'm changing to the Brando protector, which I believe adheres to the screen. There are other brands also, but I have no experience with them. Still waiting for the new ones to arrive.
An extremely gentle polish, like Meguiars haze remover might help, but I'd get a microscope to see how bad it is first, as far as raised-up material at the site.
A brain surgeon could probably shave off any burrs, but you're more likely to make it worse. Best thing would be to find a dead PDA w/ the same kind of screen and practice on that if you even want to try fixing it. This is uncharted territory.
Before doing anything, try a different type of protector and see if you still notice it.
I'm going naked until the new ones arrive.
PS ... did you remove the protective film from the protector first? It is a very soft plastic, and it occurs to me this may be what you see leaving a deposit. That may indeed be removable.

I suspect you may still have removed the screen protector's film covering and the screen protector is still there but with an air pocket under it. Just a hunch but it certainly sounds feasible. You can try to see if you have a protector on there by using a 10X loupe and looking carefully in one of the corners of your screen... see a corner or an adge you can get hold of? Just a thought or a suggestion. This might help. Good luck.

No, im want using an adhesive scree protector but Dell's. Its the actual screen that got that bump and the protector kinda "corroded", under the corroded part of the screen protector appeared that bump on the screen. Anyone have any ideas to remove it?
Anyway, i didnt want to take any risk so i threw to the garbage Dells protectors. I bought Window Decals and made screen protectors out of them. very cheap and the screen looks cristal clear although it slightly reflects, they are adhesive and now im sure anything will happen to the screen. Anyway, if anyone got any ideas to remove the bump please let me know. Also if there is enough interest i could upload here the instructions for making screen protectors out of window decal with the template for printing them that fits nicely with the Axim.
Be Firm, call Dell, tell them you ordered their product, paid alot of money, etc. and started using it in the office and you have screen protectors and dust got under the screen and is causing problems.
I have heard of Jornada 568's getting dust under the screen, and HP replaces them, also in rare instances I have heard of Axim's getting dust, tell them you are very unsatisfied and upset and don't ask how did it happen or you don't know what happened, treat it as a product defect.
Tell them you need it for work, that you need them to send you a replacement one and you will send yours back when you recieve the new one, I think they do this as a service anyway, if not, push for it.
Good Luck.

Do you have any problems with hardware issues such as d-pad, etc? This can be grounds to send it back. I am not at all suggesting you be dishonest but the d-pad is definately a reason to send it back. Correct me if I am wrong but you didn't have dust under the screen itself but between the screen protector and outside of the screen.

EXACTLY! its not dust under the screen, its a bump that was made by the screen protector over the screen. The protector corroded and formed the bump.
BESIDES that problem,. yes, MY DPAD IS DEFECTIVE and guess what else? The screen has a dead pixel.
I guess they cant argue with me about replacing the unit.
I have been trying to send the Request Support Contact Form in Dell's "premiere" support website. Theres a required field "Incident type" wich is empty! I can submit the form cause it asks the Inciident type listbox to be chosen but the list its empty...so much for their support contact.
