Not really such a thing

Pocket Outlook is a different animal than Outlook that's on your desktop. You can use Outlook 2000, 2002 or 2003 on your desktop just fine. Although there are probably a few minor changes in the Pocket Outlook that comes with Windows Mobile 2003 (as opposed to PocketPC 2002) you'd have to get the full WM2003 upgrade in order to get whatever updates to Pocket Outlook there were. I upgraded my MS Outlook on my desktop from 2002 to 2003 and the changes in IT are significant, and I generally like them. I've seen no negative impact on how it works with Pocket Outlook on my X5 (I'm running WM2003).

Iused the disk for Outlook 2002 that came with my new Axim X50. I ended up backing up all files in Outlook 2000, then removed it using the control panel. Installed Outlook 2002 and then imported files (calendar,tasks,contacts,notes,ect.). Everything went smoothly and all the files were transferred to the new Outlook and X5 in Syncing correctly.

Yes, but....

...please understand that you did NOT update Outlook on the X5. That CD installs or upgrades your DESKTOP to Outlook 2002.

Sorry, I misspoke myself. I am just glad everything went smoothly.

Happy Endings

I'm glad to hear it went smoothly---the problems you see posted are actually in the minority compared to the successes. You just rarely hear about all the successes. BTW, Outlook 2003 (which is a tremendous improvement in Outlook) works very well with the X5/WM2003. I've not run into any problems, and I tend to work them pretty hard.
