Help! Desktop Outlook restored incorrectly

Help! Today I turned on my X5 and found that a hard reset had taken place?! (I dont know why). Anyways, I went ahead and restored my X5 from a previous save (back from July) and got my PDA back to the way it was except, as expected, that all my calender, contact, task, info, etc was outdated from July.
Now, I then sync'd my X5 to my desktop I expected all of my current/present desktop Outlook items to update everything back into my X5. Only one problem the frick'n sync/restore also restored my Desktop Outlook back to the July point and now I have lost all of my very important present Outlook information (calender events, tasks, and contacts). Does anyone know how to 1) get my desktop Outlook to restore it back to present. 2) Set up the restore function in my X5 so that this doesnt update my desktop Outlook again?
