ATT ISP by Modem

Has anyone tried to set up an internet dial up (modem) connection using the ATT ISP? As far as I can tell they do not have software that supports the pocket PC OS. Their Windows CE software does not work with the Pocket PC.

Hi-

I have AT&T as my ISP and I use my Axim to dial into it via my Targus 56K Compact Flash Modem, or when I have it hooked up to my PC and I'm online...

Actually AT&T DOES offer a program that you can download and put it on your Axim for the pocket PC, you'll want to goto:
http://www.wurd.com/eng/setup/WindowsCE/index.htm

I wouldn't recommend it though (b/c this is just a dialer), the only thing you have to do is set up (local) dial access number on your Axim and you get in, you can do that by using your Axim and setting up an Internet Conneciton via Settings... I just use my same access/ dial up number that my computer uses at home. I get my email on my Axim this way too and it works wonderful! Let me know if you have any other questions or you need any further help!

start> settings > connections> connections

I have downloaded the ATT software for WindowsCE operating system into my desktop, but it would not install from my desktop to the pocket PC. I got an inconpadibiltiy error. I also manually input the local ATT dial in number and other account information into the connedtions settings, which allows me to dial in but the ATT server apparently does not recognize the devise and disconnects. I also have a Targus 56k modem. What information did you use in the setup of your pocket PC?

I just use the same ph# that my computer dials into by going to the internet conneciton settings. Make sure that your Net ID name and the password are the ones that ATT assigned to you, the Net ID is the lengthy name w/ numbers and the password is the one that has bunch of letters, etc. I sometimes get it confused with my ATT ID/ password for my emai, but they're not the same! feel free to just email me directly with questions- wangchung85@hotmail.com

Also try not to dial in from the connections menu and try from the explorer browser by punching in a url that you have not visited like www.sony.com and it will dial in automatically because it will see your not online and are trying to access the net. You will see the dial in menu. I had the same probs with my isp and that did the trick. I am also using the targus modem.

their linux dialer has major problems (basically I can't get it to work), so I wouldn't expect much out of their CE dialer either.
