A Custom ROM

I was cleaning the system and tried to delete some programs I don't need, and found that they reside in ROM, so wondering if there is a way to customize the ROM prior to flash, in order to have a custom WM03 installation??
Anyone got any idea on this?

Technically it would be possible, but AFAIK it hasn't been done by any of us mere mortals.

For all intents and purposes...

....no. You can load a Linux operating system on it instead of PocketPC or Windows Mobile, but there aren't a lot of apps available to use on that platform. I don't know of anyone who's been brave and sharp enough to disassemble the ROM package to pull erstwhile integrated apps from it. And why would you want to? If they're in ROM they're not using your RAM. And there's still plenty of ROM space for putting things into it yourself. You're best off just leaving it alone rather than take a chance and trashing your PocketPC for good.

When the PPCPE's came out they were creating custom ROMs. The only problem is all the threads I've seen about it were on Pocket PC Passion.

There was software us mere mortals could use to do it. The only thing I can remember about it is the term "Kitchen" I think it was the ROM customizing software. I'm pretty sure you needed a Full ROM upgrade file to start with though. Hmmm, you've got one of those renhui, maybe some google searching is in order. ;)

No problem renhuii. :)

And if you should happen to get that working definitely post back with a step by step description of how you did it. Myself I'm more interested in adding some stuff to the ROM! ;)
