Any minute now.....

And my new Axim should arrive on my doorstep. It's on the UPS truck and working it's way here. This is my first experience with a PDA being a long term computer nut. My question for those of you that visit this board is what are some good programs to pick up. Does the unit come charged or will I have to charge it up? (How long does that usually take?) Also I heard that Adobe Acrobat is included on the CD accompanying the Axim, is that the full version of Adobe or do I have to purchase that? The reason I ask is because I have a few EBooks in pdf and can't figure out a way to save my location. On my version with the PC it won't let me write to the page or mark my location via bookmark. Thanks for the help.

Ok first to answer your questions:
You have to charge the unit for 4 hours upon arrival.
The CD comes with Pocket Adobe Acrobat READER and the PC version also. This is the Reader, not the program to create pdf files. To read ebooks in pdf format you will probably need Abobe Ebook Reader.(which supports bookmarks) I'm not sure if MS's reader will read pdf Ebooks.
As for programs it depends on what you want to use your Ax for. I have Battery Pack 2003 for my desktop, for browsing the internet their is a good ftxPBrowser, and get the flash player from MS. FlexWallet to store my passwords and account #'s. Theme Generator from MS to create your own Today Themes. PocketTV to play mpeg's. PocketNESter to play games.
You can search form any of these on this site and find a link to get them.
These are what I use, I'm sure others prefer different.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the response. I've read about that PocketNester before, is that required if I want to play games on my Axim? I plan on getting Pocket Everquest and Tennis Addict soon.
Also, I don't really intend to create any pdf files. I have a few of them like Dune etc. I just began reading Dune on my PC Adobe reader, but it isn't seperated into chapters, it's seperated into pages etc, and has Bookmarks, but not for specific pages. I just want to make a mark on the page I'm at so I don;t forget each time I want to read the book. But the Highlight tool and Pencil tools are greyed out on my version. So I can't mark my location.
