My Documents folders are addressed slightly differently on PPCs than on PCs. To simplify the operating system to fit into these little devices, the o/s has been developed to search for documents in the /my documents folders of all storage areas if it exists there. So, you can create a /my documents folder on the sd or cf card, and it will search that diretory for documents when it opens word, excel and other applications. However, if you don't have those directories, it will search the entire storage area for documents, which will slow down opening of the app. So, if you delete the /my documents from main storage, you lead to slow opening of the apps because it will search all folders in main storage for appropriate documents.

What you can try is to move documents from main storage /my documents to the sd/my documents. I believe word and excel will find them there. When you create a new document, it will default to main/my documents, but if the move works the way I think it does, you can then move any new document to the sd/my document folder and still find it. It's not perfect, but it works.

Thanks Jake

I'm using a 96MB CF and 128 SD. They aren't full but they contain many small files for example Mapopolis Maps and Metro maps. Also very small HTML files.

I had deleted the My Documents folders off the storage cards only to find MS Word and Excel failing to open. I re-established them and I'm back to working at Axim speed!
