Factory Settings, Inactive Buttons, and Syncing

Axim X5 originally had no problem syncing with my PC. The battery was bad and had to be replaced. Syncing does not work now. I have tried several different troubleshooting methods described online and have gone as far as reset to factory settings. Because of the factory reset, the shortcut buttons do not work and I can't get to the settings menu. Please advise!

More info?

Do you mean the four buttons on the front of the PDA? The hard reset shouldn't have disabled those. Are you able to run everything on the PocketPC as it stands now? In other words, Inbox, Contacts, Word, Excel, configure your system settings, etc.---do those all work okay? When you go into Settings, Personal, Button, do you even have any applications assigned to each of the buttons? If not, can you select a button assignment to apply to each? If they ARE there, can you change each one and get response from the buttons? Can you start ActiveSync on the PocketPC itself and configure it?

Answers to these questions will help us understand what's working versus not. Be aware, if you weren't already, that a hard reset nullifies your previous partnership with the workstation.
