Basic X5 Questions...NEW USER!

HI,

I am am a new X5 user and like it so far..My question is...Is there a way to open up things like (notes, and the calander) on your Pc at home and schedule appointments and stuff like that..Then Sync to to my Axim X5? Or do I have to enter everything directly into the handheld itself? I had a Plam based PC and you could open software on the home Pc and schecule all my appointments for the next few months, then "SYNC" it to the handheld unit. I cannot find anyway (or software) to do it with the axim...Thanks..

The companion CD has copies of Outlook and Activesync. Install these on your PC. You can then sync. data between the X5 and Outlook using Activesync. Check the help files for Activesync and Outlook for details.

Yes, please read the manual/help files.

I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but the guides that come with PocketPCs show you all the basic things you need/can do. Once you've gone through that and tried it out, then bring questions to the forums. We're all way willing to help out, but you're asking basic, right-out-of-the-box questions.

Welcome to Aximsite.......

Not to be a smart alec, but did you read the user guide? I'm only about a 6 month older user than you, but when I bought mine/guided my wife to give it to me for Fathers Day, I read everything I could find via GOOGLE and the online user manual and then the actual Users Guide and System Information Guide (realize you do not have these) plus did a search on amazon.com and bought "How to do Everything with Your Dell Axim" (this was invaluble to me at least) and your giving the other guy a rough time for asking you some basics after he tried to put it to you gentlly. No, we all realize you're not perfect but probably a lot more perfect than I am. I'm a an old, retired crudmugion that has way too much time to devote to this learning now and you're probably about 35 years old and have a family, a very busy job and not enough time to do much. They are several very informative resoursces on this site alone under "Resources" plus there are answers to almost any question under "Search", respectfully the 3rd and 5th tab from the left at the top of this page. Ease up and enjoy your new toy, I know I have and still do. You'll find your answers if you just cool off and have some fun. :approve:

Thanks for the Normal response...I never got the manual when I purchased the X5 I just need some basic help getting started..I just didn't think a response to a new user was the right way he came off...Like I cannot make a post here because my question was to miniscule for his intelligence..I'll download the manual and go from there...Thanks Again!

Well, I hope you get it working. Welcome to Aximsite, by the way. It is true, we get newbies (Like me...years later... ;-) ) who ask before they search and stuff. If you have/did search, great. If you didn't, now you know. Again, welcome to the site.

Ouch

Wow, Bwargo, that's why I started off explicitly making the point I wasn't trying to be mean. I'm really sorry if I didn't make the point well enough.

You can also get books from borders or Amazon.com. There is a good one called "How to do everything with your Dell Axim." It's pretty good for the beginner. Keep asking questions, someone will give you an answer sooner or later. The people here are really helpful!! :)

I think RobertCF was indeed trying to help you when saying ("not trying to be mean") that your question could be answered by reading the manual first. There are lots of people that just start using their gadgets without ever reading the manuals. Robert CF couldn't have known you don't have a manual. Be cool, man, in stead of getting angry right away in your third post on this board. We're all just trying to help!:approve:
