My question concerns the ability to shutoff the external speaker when using headphones. I listen to mp3s on my Axim. When I turn up the volume to listen to my music using the headset, it also increases the the volume on the PocketPC. I've looked everywhere and can't seem to turn off just the external volume, while keeping volume for the headset.

Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,
The two are actually linked. I got around the problem somewhat using PocketMVP to listen to MP3's. The program has a built in equalizer that allows you to change the decible settings up or down by a factor of 20. This way I can crank up the music with the eqaulizer on, and not blow out my eardrums when I take the headphones out.

I have had the same problem. I am certain that the speaker should disable when the headphones are attached, but I can't figure it out. I am currently waiting for a response from Dell Technical Support. I will let you know if I find anything.

Thanks for the quick response. I just downloaded PocketMVP. I'll give it a try and keep my eyes and ears out for a solution.

Thanks,
Kevin

My alarm buzzer/speaker shuts off completely when I jack in. I would send it back if it doesn't do this.

Yes, the Axim's speaker is supposed to completely shut off when you plug in a set of headphones...

Weird. Are you sure it's pushed in all the way? When I plug my headset in, I hear nothing from the internal Axim speaker.

I actually had to go and make sure because generally I put my headphones on and then push play so I wouldn't have noticed either. But I checked and when I plug in my headphones all sound goes to them only... Good luck

Just got off the phone with Dell Technical Support (I tried contacting through email, but I was getting nowhere. I called in and was talking to a live person right after the menu prompts!). Their diagnosis was that there is a short in the circuit that switches from speaker to headphones when they are inserted. He also thought that it would explain my battery drain while the headphones are inserted. Dell is replacing the unit simply because the internal speaker continues to play.

It looks like you have a call to make for an immediate replacement. Mine will be sent tomorrow and should arrive on Friday.

Good Luck!
