X5 issues after computer reformat?

I'm about to reformat the computer that my Axim X5 is synced to. Is it a simple matter of keeping track of which programs I have installed on my Ax and reinstalling them on the computer after the reformat? Anybody ever do a reformat and screw up their Axim?

I would make sure you have the install programs backed up on a CD or another drive so you don't have to track them down. Also, make sure you backup Outlook.

You won't damamge your Axim by reformating your PC. Just make sure it is unplugged while you set everything back up on your PC.

Not to worry

You don't have to worry about what programs you had installed on your X5. As soon as you create the new partnership on your freshly reformatted workstation, ActiveSync will build the list of installed programs in your profile. The only apps you might have to actually reinstall are ones that had a workstation component that had its own functionality apart from ActiveSync.

Argh! Another reason I'm reformatting my computer! Bloody thing is possessed! The kids got into it and it's full of
spyware, adware, and other nastier stuff. Spybot, Adaware, and Mcafee cleaned out a lot of the crap, and I've removed some
of what's left by hand, but even now I'm getting tons of "hits" when I'm online that ghost out my current window when I'm
typing, hit capslock on me, and other ghostly keyboard crap. It's a real pain trying to type a letter this long. My last
partial post just me typing along, lost control of the keyboard and it tabbed into the button to post.

AnYWAY, i WAS mostly worried about SYNCING data the wrong way (syncing THE NOTHING ON my computer the wrong way with my Axim and making there be nothing on it) or some other loss of data when my computer-side backup was missing.

I was a bit less fussy with my last paragraph and that's what typing is like< PLUs it just freezes on me every few words
beeping at me, highlighting all my text sometimes, and other weird crap. After a while I'll get an error message that
something has crashed, can't find its server, and I'll be back to normal. I've spent more hours than I care to think about
trying to get it working again and finally gave up. Too much garbage to remove manually, and some of it is reloading itself, too. WinXP the most secure OS yet? Smoke some more pot, Bill. Oh yeah, this is through a NAT router, firewall, and antivirus software. Double Grrr.
