Selective synchronising

I am at present in New Zealand (usually reside in UK) and have had a big problem with dates in Microsoft Outlook - ie. birthdays and appointments changed to the wrong time and date. I downloaded a programme that I saw was recommended by airline pilots, "City Time PPC" and I do not know what happened then but my Axim X5 died completely. Absolutely nothing and even Activ Sync had gone.
As a result I am awaiting the set up disk to be mailed (hopefully receive tomorrow) to set up the whole thing again - like an idiot I left the disk behind. I know I have backups on my Dell Notebook but I do not want to use them. I would rather selectively Sync with only part of M.Outlook. I use my Axim for personal and business but I only want it to sync with my personal folders plus contacts and calender... NOT the business ones. It puts far too much onto the Axim. I do not use it for internet or emails.
Any help please? Sorry about the length of this!

I don't know how you do this.

An idea, though, that might help: if you temporarily delete your business contacts (on your PC) then you could sync everything and then restore your business contacts. So, first empty the deleted items folder, then delete everything in your business contacts folder, (which moves the lot to the deleted items folder), then sync with your axim (which won't sync anything in the deleted items folder). Then move to the deleted items folder on your PC, select all, right-click and select 'move to folder' to restore them to the business contacts folder.

It's a slightly roundabout way of doing it but at least would allow you to restore your personal contacts.

thanks for your advice Willfoster. That does sound a way of doing it but updating and syncing on an everyday basis it is probably inpractical.
Do you know whether there is an update that deals with this problem - it surely is not beyond Dell/Microsoft to sort this? my Axim X5 is 18 months old now. Are the latest Axims more user friendly?
