2+ Years Running & No Problems

Hello Everyone:

I was working on my X5 the other day, looking for some info and came across a bit of info I want to share with the Axim community. Basically I purchased my X5 a few months after they were released, and I realized that I have had it since, used it extensively over the past 2+ years, and it has NEVER broken down or given me any problems. Believe me, when I say I have used it extensively I mean extensively. I use it at work, for my small personal business enterprise, and for my home finances, not to mention, it's everyday general use. I find the fact that it has not broken down on me to be quite a feat, and in my book that places Dell at the top of my list. (I have not had an ocassion to use Dell Support, so I have no feedback on it). I sincerly hope there are other X5 users out there with a similar experience. If so, share it with us. It's nice to know there are posts, where everything with the X5 is good.

P.S. I also upgraded to Windows Mobile 2003 FE from 2002 when it was offered by Dell, and the upgrade went smoothly.

Yes, back when I had my X5, it held up really well. After a year, I wanted to upgrade, so I now have a Dell Axim X30 High.

I'm glad to see you are having a good experience with yours. If you have any questions at all though, remember you can ask us. :)

X5

Also, about 1 1/2 years of hard use with 2 issues:

The X5 tells me that the main bat. is dead when I have 70%+ charge.

Also, my toggle switch has never worked correctly. Eg. double or tripple skips.

I like you have had my dell for over two years and NO need to call tech support truly no issues, grab and knock on wood quickly. Mine is a 5Xadvance. I never did the upgrade as they quit selling the upgrad cd by the time I decided to do it and truly I can do absolutely everything with the system I have. The mighty Axim 5X is a Work Horse in my book and worth every bit I paid for it. We have a two other individuals at work with the 5X they are our sales people who utilie them highly and NO issues to report.

Good Job Dell on this one!! :approve:

I was on the waiting list, and go the X5 that December, when they first came out. That's what, 2 years and 3 months ago? Useful, hard-working device with no (knock on that wood!) problems.

Music, video, pim, excel, ListPro, eWallet... what would I do without any of them. And pictures! Can't forget them. Okay, and games... :)

A nice device, and cost-effective too... If I just hadn't bought so many different cases. Even our second one (The Man's) is coming up on 2 years old.

Yeah mine hasnt had too many issues.. never had to call dell.
Now that I think about it, I probably should have had my D-pad fixed. Other than that its been good. The common backup battery annoyance is tolerable.

HFD all I can say is DITTO. My situation is almost identical to yours. The only times I called Dell were for none X5 related problems.

I too have had excellent results with my X5 Advanced. I got mine in August 2003 so it came with WM2003 already loaded. Other than the occasional soft reset, it has been pure bliss.

I use it every day - I really got my money's worth. Dollar per dollar, it's got to be the best purchase I ever made. :approve:

Over 2 years of heavy use with my X5 and no problems with the device.

I run it hard with a PCMCIA Microdrive and Sierra Wireless Aircard and it's stood up extremely well. I killed the original battery and am seeing a decline on the second battery from the heavy use... and she keeps on trucking.

Chris...

Got my X5 back in the summer of 03. I have had no problems with it. Did my first hard reset about a month ago just to get it all cleared out and start fresh. I love it. Take it to work everyday. I use it all the time.
