I need to find out what is the process to synchronizing the contact in MS Outlook 2002?
Note: I have created the same categories name in Pocket PC Outlook 2002 as the sub contact folders in my MS Outlook's contact forlder.
Here is the scenario, I am creating new contacts in my Axim contact list under a particular category (say Family). Same sub contact folder exists in MS Outlook contact folder. But when it synchronize, the newly created contact from Axim copy's to the main folder in MS Outlook and and not to the specific sub folder (Family).
Although, I have already selected the option in the Active Syn settings, under contacts, to synchronize the specific folders.
Is there anyway, when I create a contact in Axim will copy itself in the same folder in the MS Outlook on my desktop?
Thanks

Has anyone tried the Pocket Informant to replace Outlook. I tried it and it was impressive but the complexity of the program kind of put me off. I could not get many of the features to work correctly. Is it supposed to be compatiible with the Axim? There was a help file but I still had problems.
This brings up a gripe I have about many programs I have downloaded. EVERY program should have a simple text (or MSReader or Adobe format) file describing the program and explaining how to use every feature. Several programs I tried I abandoned because help was missing or inadequate.
I hope someone replies to the previous post. I have Outlook contacts in a single catagory and I also want to create several catagories.

Sounds like a touchy problem with 'CONTACT' sync that you are experiencing. The information provided by Dell and Microsoft seems to suggest that when sync takes place that each device will be updated to the most current changes that took place AFTER the last sync... meaning that if one changes something in the PC it will update the Axim and vice a versa. I am going to play around and see if I can discover something on my end that might be of some assistance. Hopefully someone can illuminate on this topic and ease your frustration.
Hang in there... it'll be alright... I have had my Axim now for 24 hours and it is, hands down, the best little device I have encountered in a long while. The flexibility is fantastic! I hope you are enjoying yours.

Axim5,
I've always had this problem with my Visor (palm based). Unfortunately I'm not sure there's any
way to fix it, though it would be nice if there was...

I use Pocket Informant. It has a very extensive users manual available for downloading at their web site. It is a great addition to the Axim. Under contacts you can tap on the filter symbol (the little funnel) and a screen opens for you to select the type contacts you want to display.

I am having the same problem as Axim5 describes in his original question, but I still don't see any solutions on this thread. My company has multiple Contacts folders in Outlook 2000 (note: multiple Contacts folders -- not one folder where the contacts are categorized).
With ActiveSync, you can not sync multiple folders other than the Inbox -- this software is out.
I researched other synchronizing software and came up with IntelliSync. This allows you to sync multiple folders from Outlook on your desktop, but it merges the multiples folders from your desktop to a single folder on the handheld -- again not a solution.
From what people are telling me, I need to categorized each contact in all of my company's Contact sub-folders prior to the sync. Then I can simply view by category. This, of course, is prohibitive given the amount of contacts involved and the number of people who can edit the contacts (not all are handheld users). Still looking for an answer.

Regarding Contacts and sub-folders -
Check out this Microsoft Link -
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=EN
Here is a quote from the page:
"From any contact folder you specify, this add-in moves contacts easily to the device you want. For example, you can synchronize a public folder that contains team contacts. Using the Outlook PCS, you can synchronize as many contact folders as you want."
This might do the trick.
There are also some other synch tools out there for around $10 that would also do the trick.
