Ok this is a very specific post about a particular type of hook-up but hopefully it well save some other people a little bit of the misery that I went through. (These instructions assume that you have connected the bluetooth manager and have set the phone to be used as a bluetooth modem.)
How to use a moto v551 as a bluetooth modem with cingular.
1. Make sure that under START> SETTINGS> CONNECTIONS that all three boxes are set to work settings.
2. In the DIALING LOCATIONS settings click on Dialing Patterns.
Change every box so that there is only a capital letter G in each one. Then Click OK.
3. Go back to the CONNECTIONS (tab at the bottom of the screen) Click on MODIFY on the first box, and make sure that you have the MODEM setting selected at the bottom.
4. Click on NEW and enter a name for the connection. in the box below select bluetooth dial-up modem and set the baud rate to 115200. Then click NEXT.
5. In the next box leave the country code blank. In the box below enter your area code. In the box below that enter *99# (if you are not using the v551 this setting may be different. I have heard that you can use *99***1# as well)and then click next and then finish.
6. When you try and connect it will prompt you for a user name and password enter
wap@cingulargprs.com and cingular1 respectively.
7. That should be it. The biggest problem that I had initially was not making sure everything was set to work and that all the dialing propreties were not set to G. I hope this helps someone!
