Can no longer access SD slot!!!!

No complaints about my Axim X5... till NOW!

1st Backup battery died, then replaced it. Since then it locks up every now and then and have to fully recharge it to get it on. After I do that it seems to hard reset itself, then I do a restore, works good, except now it no longer sees my SD slot. Tried reformatting my SD Card, but that isn't it. No matter what SD Card I use it does not acknowledge it at all.

Welcome to the site.

If you look into the SD slot can you see any bent or missing connections?

Be sure your data is backed up, then do a hard-reset. DO NOT RESTORE DATA YET. Insert the SD card and see if it's recognized. If it is, you need to restore ONLY YOUR DOCUMENTS and reinstall your programs w/o the backup. If it is not, contact Dell for replacement info (or if you're daring, try opening it up yourself, but that WILL void your warrenty) JPMarth might be right, you could have a damaged slot --- or you might have damaged circuitry if it seemed to randomly reset itself (as to that, you might need to replace the backup battery).

Hope something in that mess helped.

Nope...

No bent or damaged slot, and the hard reset still didn't recognize the SD slot. It's my device from work, and they said it's past the warranty. We're hoping to upgrade to the X50, but it looks doubtful. I no longer have my good ol Jornada, after the Axim there was no need for it. I'm thinking of getting one anyways for myself. Any recommendations?

Oh thanks for your advice and help. :approve:

My AximX5 300 had the same problem so what I Did ? I opened it but It the sd slot could not be removed, so I just Put a thin piece of cardboard and started cleaning it, and guess what - it worked and is still is working. The slot just needed cleaning and I never had to open the unit.

Before you try cleaning yours just insert the SD card and sqeeze it for a few second and you will see your SD card.

Did you have to put any type of cleaner on the cardboard? i.e. Rubbing Alcohol.
