The Axim does not record in MP3 format with the included software, it will record in .WAV Format.

There is a program called NoteM that will record to MP3. Using a LOW bitrate option (which sounds fine for voice recoreding) and limiting the maximum file size to 50MB I get approx 44 minutes of recording time. So with 500MB you could assume around 440 minutes or >7 hours.

WAV files are huge so you're much better off recording in mp3 format. NoteM is free and can be found here. Give it a try. If you need help with it, just do a search or post your questions. :)

BTW, welcome to Aximsite!
