Axim X5 Sync/Cradle Question

I recently graduated college and now I am working full time. I have my original cradle at my house to sync up my Axim every morning.

However, I would also like to sync up my appointments and contacts from my work computer as well. I don't really want to bring the cradle with me to and from work everyday. What is the best/easiest way for me to do this? Do I need to buy another cradle or do I just need the cord? How much should this cost me?

Is it going to cause a problem syncing up from more than one computer (i.e. home and work). Is my axim going to continually overwrite everything from home and work depending on where I sync it from. I guess I don't want it to overwrite info, I want it to sync both. I don't think this should be too difficult to do, but I really am new to this whole thing.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you...

It's been a while since I had my X5 but I think you HAD to use the cradle or buy an alternate cable. Wait for a second opinion. :)

It will sync everything except email on the second computer. You can of course further restrict that by checking or unchecking the boxes in AS.

If your computer has an IR port then you could sync through that. It's just as fast as through the cable or cradle in my opinion.

Your options are......

A. Another cradle

B. A sync or multifunction cable (from Dell or third party)

C. Infrared sync - assumes the workstation has an Infrared sensor (I disagree that it's as fast as a cable)

D. WiFi (both desktop and PDA would need a WiFi card)

E. Sync through internet (rather challenging, requires workstation configuration and internet connection, as well as internet connection from the PDA)

Recommendation--a basic sync cable for the X5 is inexpensive and worth it as a backup to your cradle. Get one, your X5 will love you for it. :approve:

I just got the Dell cable on ebay thru "Buy It Now" for $4.95 plus $5 shipping. So hopefully this will do the trick. I really appreciate your advice.

Additionally, Do I need to configure activesync some special way now that I will be connecting and using two separate computers? Any other special tips or tricks or advice that I should be aware of?

Thank you.
