I forgot to mention that even after i synched the axim the time didn't change to DST. My laptop, however, what i synched with, did change automatically. I'm confused by this and would like to know why the axim didn't automatically rest for DST.

My AX flashed a dialogue box which I couldn't read and shut down. I turned it back on and everything was ok, even the time. I did see the dialogue box again after I shut down a couple of apps, but this time it stayed on the screen until I closed it.

Ikehiker,
My best guess would be that they were both at about 80%. I haven't experienced any problems to date with the batteries (although my fingers will remain crossed).
Haven't dwelt on why they both immediately shut off after power-up but feel that your assumption is most likely correct.

When I turned my Ax on the A.M. I got the popup saying the time was changed, and that was immediately followed by the frightening "can't read storage card...please format.

I pulled the SD card out and opened Total Commander (file manager). Received errors on any attempt to access anything. I noticed that SD card wasn't showing...but "Storage Card" had replaced it...wierd...

Anyway, a soft-reset cured all. Didn't have to format the SD.

Chris...

Thanks for the response, Laughingcat. I asked because I've gotten concerned about the Ax turning itself on like this. I nearly always leave it attached to the power supply over night but at some point, I expect I'll go on vacation without it (although I haven't left it for any length of time yet) and I'm worried it will turn on because of some message and run itself down. I just hope I can remember to 1) backup data, and 2) turn off notifications, if I do ever leave it for any length of time.

Reading through this message makes me wonder if I should sign up for AA (Axim Anonymous) right now

I had to manually change the time on my Dell, too!

Ikehiker,
Little by little I've been leaving the Ax's off the chargers for extended periods of time, on my personal Ax I've gone as long as two full days with no problems, that's with occasional use, a game of pocketpop or solitaire, a calendar check etc.. Battery will show no lower than 70%, I'm still a bit leary of going to much longer than that. I will continue to push the limit being as though I'm rather lazy and am getting tired of plugging them in after every use (300's), but, at the same time hard resets don't scare me. In fact I've even done them voluntarily just to clean up. Reinstalling with ActiveSync for me has been a God-Send, not because of catastrophic occurences - JUST BECAUSE - with moderate use I believe you'll be just fine... the little voice from my shoulder just shouted that you should "always plan for the worst".

Oh! and as far as AA - From my experiences, so far, I've been a member of AXIM ALWAYS

You select your time zone in Settings / System / Clock. If you are in the Eastern time zone, this is generally GMT-5. But not all GMT-5 are equal because of daylight savins time rules. So you want GMT-5 Eastern US. They even have a special setting for GMT-5 Indiana.

(It worked for me, anyway.)

There does not appear to be an option on the Axim (Pocket PC 2002) but it does exist on the desktop. I'm assuming the Pocket PC is taking it's queue from the desktop it is connected to and syncing based on the settings there. So there must be a registry setting controling that function.

My little Axim is smart. It advanced automatically. The only prob was that when I went to turn it on, it shut off on me then I had to turn it on again. Otherwise, it's fine.

That usually happens with my T330. My Axim has been flawless to date. Both as a matter of fact updated DST automagically.

Cool My Hypothesis

Ok...so I think I have a hypothesis on what happened (When the clock on my axim jumped forward by two hours instead of one). At that time, my Axim was in the cradle connected to my windows XP machine which is set to automatically get the time off the internet. My guess is when my PC clock changed, it synched to my axim which suddenly saw this new time as DST and added an additional hour to the time thinking that it hadn't set the time to DST yet...hence making it go move forward by a total of two hours instead of one. :rolling:
