dont use any over clocking program execpt TURBO TRAY!!! because it is the only program that i have used that does not lock up my axim and is the the only program to successfully overclock a basic axim to 500mhz.

Yes - this works well, but can be a bit complicated. Along with the complication you get the ability to tweak with a million different settings.

I love this site!
Thank you Musttang87; you ROCK!
I've downloaded and copied Turbo Tray.exe file to my windows directory on the PPC. It says it's now running at 498 MHz, so now I just need to figure out a good way to test out my new turbo charged Ax.

Hmmm, call me over-cautious but how do you folks that are running your Axim's o/c'd to 500Mhz or thereabouts know that it doesn't damage your Axim eventually? I would have thought if the CPU gets too hot (and assuming the Axim has no fan) then you could end up frying it. Just wondering really - I'd like to use TurboTray but can't afford to replace a fried Axim so have not bothered so far - anyone been running there's overclocked noticed the unit getting warmer or anything?

I was running mine at 590 for a while... Very nice... It sucked the battery pretty fast though, so I keep it at 500mhz. If I'm in need of more battery, I'll just clock it down to suit my needs, but it's at 500 90% of the time.

I run my Axim at 500- it does wonders for SNES emulating :D but it does drain your battery much faster. It isn't dangerous, since you aren't actually physically increasing voltage or anything, the Xscale processor is designed to run at speeds of multiples of 100. (200, 300, 400) and tweaking that up to 500 should not harm your axim.
Turbo Tray is the best!

Three things I can say with certainty:
1) Running at a faster clock speed will make the processor run hotter.
2) Running hotter will shorten the lifespan, other things being equal.
3) If it gets too hot it will die.
Is the extra heat significant enough to matter? I don't know!
