Great toy poor service

Well I got my refurbished X5 Advanced today, it extremely faster than my HP 548. However I got no syc cable, even though both the web site and my comformation stated "USB Cale" I hve been told by Dell that it did not come with one. I was told that I could go to Wal Mart and get a cable. WHy would I ever order something that needs to be contected to the computer with out a sync cable? They seemed to think that I had.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this type of experiance with Dell over there Axim's

i dont see your problem, just call dell an yell at them ,try to reason with them and they might give you a free cf card for your trumbles....why are you complaining about a small mixup?:crooked:

at least you dont have to worry about the crummy arabian reps, like at HP.no offence to arabians.

i think you should get it resolved with dell in stead of posting about it.:D

im not trying to be mean,i just think that dell could help alot better than those other places, and im sure you can find one on e-bay,or someone can help you here.:D

I did call them they told me it since it was a refurbished model it did not come with one. They told me to go to Wal Mart they the cables were "common". I spoke to three different people.

Call them and tell them your order included a USB cable, and that you paid for one. If not, return the PDA.

I don't see why they would even dispute it with you if the order confirm says USB cable, someone is not telling the truth.

Aside from that, my USB cable is pretty useless as it is MUCH faster syncing and transferring files through a wireless netword card.

compaining about such a small mix up?????

To some its a small mixup. And these are people who don't need to install software, synch with computer, etc. Umm, the Axim is to a large degree useless without it.

Yell at Dell. If the person you speak with doesn't fix it, yell at their boss.... and on up the ladder. Don't let them screw you.

Unless you know something I don't, you need to make a hard wired connection (USB, cradle, or maybe serial) to do the inital setup (partnership, ActiveSync, installation of drivers)before the wireless connection will work.

I know how brianallen feels. I just made a post elsewhere on this forum swearing that I will never contact Dell again - even if it means throwing my Ax away.

My complaint is not so much about the mix up but about the total lack of service on Dells part. I have heard stories but knew of someone else that got a laptop from Dell and had a good experiance. If there would have been some attempt to fix my problem besides sending me to a place that did not have anything that would help or trying to sell me the item instead.

For the person that posted about just buying the item I have. That is why I post that it was a great toy, of what I have been able to do it seems to be really fast. It was the customer service (or lack of it) that was the biggest problem. I have sent an email to customer service if I get no responce than I may send everything back. I am still holding out hope that they will come through.

The USB cable to sync the Axim cannot be bought at WalMart. It is not a standard USB cable. It has a special connector that connects to the Axim.

There are several vendors that sell alternative USB cables. Do a search on the site.

Thought I would update this, After my experience with customer service I filed a complaint with BBB, guess that it work. I got a email from someone at Dell stating that they were sending my the usb cable. It sort of sucks cause I already bought one from someone on ebay. I got the cable yesterday (day after they told me they were sending it.

Doesn't change my opinion to much about Dell at this point, though at least they tried to rectify the problem.

I bought a refurb 400 and had no problems getting everything that was listed with it...cradle, travel cable, leather case, dell case, all paperwork and software. I think I paid $289 for all.

The ax even looked brand spanking new except for the sticker that says refurbished in the battery box.

I would have personally sent it back for a refund since you have a 30 day return policy.

Glad you finally got your sync cable. You shoudn't have had that problem. Between the office & home have 11 Ax's & had no problems like yours. Knock on wood.

Not to kick someone when they are down, but why even bother with a refurb? You really don't save much going that route, you just have to wait for a good deal on a new one. I just got mine, it was 10% off -$40 coupon = $280. Granted it can be frustrating waiting for deals to pop up, but it can be worth it.
