No way to restore from backup

There's no way to restore from a previous backup.... it claims that it was made from a different movile type.

So.... if you make a backup just with the backup utility, you might lost your data. I did make a bakup just of my PIM data.... even do it asked me to save everything from the Build-in memory... .I tried to upload the previous PIM data backup.... but it was there.

Restore of the PIM data worked just fine........ I just need to upload to my PPC my files..... It'll be as it was before!!!!

I'm in the process of restoring from a full backup on the hard drive. It should work fine.

Did you do the restore through ActiveSync or through the backup utility on the Axim?

Activsync. It just finished. After a soft reset, all is well. My nav button patch was in the rom storage area. Before the upgrade, I copied all onboard storage data to my CF card. I will simply not copy the Dell patch data back again.

Did you name the unit the same? I didn't bother restoring because I wanted a fresh install of all the programs. It might be because you have to set up a new partnership.

Now that I'm back up and running I noticed that my built in storage data WAS restored from the backup. The Dell nav button patch was still there. It still had an entry in Remove Progams window so I simply uninstalled it.

The new Nav button setting is working well.

Try restoring using a GUEST partnership, it may work.

I'm going to back up on both Activesync & an SD card. Hopefully one will work.

And now the race is on to see who can be the first to put up BMQ benchmarks.

I'm really excited about the supposed Jscript improvement in IE. I had to turn off Jscript cause it made PIE all but unusable.

My backup... didn't worked.

I tried to change back the namne of my PPC.... it didn´t worked either.

So bad for those (assuming I'm doing things all right) who make just a backup with ActiveSync.... it's not working at all.

1. I tried to restore just after it finished the ROM update. Didn't worked.
2. I change back my PPC Device name to the one I had when I make the backup, Didn't worked.

3. I just made a restore from my PIM data, which was done with the Data Backup of the Axim; them I put my files back.

Just tell me what you did in order to get the backup work, even do I already have everything as I need it.

When ActiveSync starts up, don't choose a partnership, just hit cancel and it will sign you in as a Guest. Try restore from there.

Hi Dell

And I just want to say a big hello and THANK YOU to the Axim Project Team for making this available to us! I hope your tech support folks don't get too much grief over this, although I suspect that only the supergeeky types that hang at places like here will be doing mildly insane things like flashing flashROM, & hopefully we're all savvy enough that we'll leave support alone.

...and here we go, everything is backed up, crossing fingers...

Is backing up through activesync taking a ridiculously long time for anyone else? Granted I have a couple of programs, but it's only about 32mb worth, and I can transfer 32mb worth of files faster than this....30 min. and counting....

Can anyone give an estimate as to how long it took to backup their Axim?
