Don't know how I've missed this all day. :)
Got some errands to run, but I'll upgrade either tonight or tomorrow. I've been needing to do a hard reset to fix a few things, and hopefully fix my ActiveSync problem. I think I might just start from scratch, do a hard reset, delete all partnerships, delete ActiveSync itself, and reinstall OfficeXP. I don't know what the heck is going on, but sick of rebooting my computer everytime I need to sync with Outlook.

Yes, backing up through Activesync over USB is hellishly slow, which is why I always back up over WiFi. I'll be restoring from the SD card and I hope it works, because I'd hate to have to restore over USB!

Hmm Done.... but didn't worked either!!!

Since I started to make the backup I did it as Guest.... it as me which backup I wanted to use. I selected the one of my previous profile..... but I got the message I just put before......

Did you try it?

Did it work for anyone?

I'm talking about having a restore from the ActiveSync.

I don't think I am going to try it until someone confirms that restore works through ActiveSync.

Backing up with ActiveSync.... just fine

it isn't a problem..... sure it is slow, but try doing a incremental backup. the first time sure it takes its time... but afterwords it goes just fine.

I did not have any problems upgrading the rom.

First I did a full backup with activesync, then started setup which was basically automatic.

Next I completed the basic setup of the touchscreen, started a guest connection in activesync, restored the data and did a soft reset.

After that I removed the center nav button patch, did another soft reset and everything was done and working properly.

Big Smile Don't be afraid!!!

I think there's no problem at all.

I read in an other place (spanish site http://www.todopocketpc.com) that there's no way to restore from the backup done with ActiveSync, but this pot was related to a ROM update of the Toshiba.

That's way I make a backup of my PIM data with the Data Backup utility of the Axim.

Let's put everything straight:

1. Make several backups:
1.1 PIM data backup, or even all data backup with Backup Data utility of the Axim (make both of them),
1.2 Make a backup with ActiveSync (even it didin't worked for me),
1.3 Finally, make a sync of all of your data with Outlook (just to have all of you contacts, appoinmets, e-mails, etc)
1.4 ... and if you have your own utility.... give it a try also!!!

2. Copy all of your files to your PC, even the built-in data. if you have a CF card.... put them there also.

3. Make the ROM update.

4. Try to restore any of the previous backups. The one that worked for my was: PIM data with Axim Backup utility, and move back the filkes from my PC to my Axim. (I don't have a CF card )

It's already in this thread. look for cageyjames' post and I put it under "take me" in earlier posts. How many more times do we need to post it. :(

I kept saying I wanted to clear up space on my Axim. I think I'll just hard reset the thing, and install the rom update. Too much crap on it anyways...

:D

Good NMkiD. You can let me know if the restore works properly. I have WAY too many programs to go through and reinstall all of them again seperately.

OK, before I restore, here's BMQ ver. 0.31 benchmark:

I'm running this with nothing else going on in the background by putting an alias in my start menu, soft reset, and then running BMQ from the start menu.

Oh yea, processor set to 400Mhz "normal"

Pass 1:

Int 1242
Float 109
Draw 344
Window 54
Memory 1189
Total 587

Pass 2:

Int 1214
Float 185
Draw 334
Window 54
Memory 1193
Total 596

Pass 3:

Int 1220
Float 180
Draw 348
Window 54
Memory 1188
Total 597

So no significant speedup. No speedup at all really. Ah well. Hopefully PIE will do Jscript better now anyway.

And on to the resore process :)
