Starting over from scratch.

My X5 sat in my backpack and apparently the power switched on and on and on till the battery and coin battery died and everything was lost. That was at least a year ago. I want to resume using this but would like to take this opportunity to bring it up to the latest and greatest soft and firmware levels.

I remember precisely nothing about setting this thing up, using it etc.

Its pocket PC and that is all I know. I assume there are newer OS's available and I have a MSDB subscription so I can get any and all of them.

Anyone care to share their suggestions?

You should check the support website of Dell for a new ROM that includes OS.
Anything else?

Don't assume that there is a new OS for the X5. We have been abandoned. The latest OS is PocketPC 2003. Any other updates are for the later models.

Did you happen to have a saved backup file that you can restore from?

...And by the way, to Aximsite !!
Frankly, the best way to become fluent in PPCs is to spend a lot of time here. Don't bother reading manuals, those forums are far more helpful.

First thing would be to read the numerous tutorials people wrote here, specifically the "What can I do with my Axim" one. Very good start. Find it with the SEARCH function (and learn to rely on thios function, while I'm at it)
