Discovery I made while after upgrading the ROM....
As many of you know already those who have C1 Axims now have their chip show up in the Setting >> About as the PXA255. Along with this there are optimizations for those who have the C1 chips. Many of you found that there was pretty much no difference in performance based off benchmarks but to my suprise there is one thing that is different. The Axim is now an improved overclocker, when I set Pocket Hack Master to 472Mhz/236Mhz bus it worked fine, I don't have a registered version so I couldn't do anymore more tweaking. To make sure this wasn't some sort of fluke I downloaded Turbo Tray 472, usually intended for the Toshiba e740's and discouraged for the Axims, it works flawlessly as well at 472Mhz.

It was with the PXA 250 C1 chip which is actually the PXA255 chip and is now recognized as the PXA255 chip when you go to Settings >> About. I have my doubts at to whether this will work on the B2 chips though.
I believe there is still more research to be done in the area of Axim overclocking (at least for the PXA255) and I would certainly like to perform that research using a registered version of Pocket Hackmaster but sadly I do not have one.
As you can see the Axim @ 472/236 soundly beats even overclocked to 498Mhz. Most people know this is already because the bus is overclocked more at the 472Mhz setting explaining the performance increase.
I dunno. I used to be an O/C fiend, but if I can't rip the Axim open and stick on a fan that lights up and sounds like a jet engine, where's the fun? Hmmm... well maybe I can....
No, I'm serious. Wouldn't it be interesting to stick a big heatsink on the Xscale and see what it's like using a 1Gig handheld? Probably have to dump some extra voltage into it too though.
According to Pocket Hack Master I am running my Axim at 590/236. Suprisingly no issues have come up, I haven't run performance benchmarks as of yet though.
Just downloaded and installed the latest version of PHM, and so far it's worked flawlessly at 472/236. What program are you guys using to benchmark? I'd love to have some confirmation that I'm actually running faster. :)

I'm still working on the ideal overclocking setting, I see some setting are faster than others even though it may seem the other way around at first glance. Later on, maybe today, I will post more benchmarks of different settings and you can decide for yourself. Btw I use this benchmark.
According the developer of PocketTV, the pxa255 can indeed sustain greater overclocking -- though the developer of PocketHackMaster (Anton) notes in the same thread that the L values max out at 45.
