Original x5, need windows ce 2002 plus bios upgrade cd
Hello,
I have an original x5 that is not difficult to work with because the ce 2000 software will not all passthrough for net access etc. I desperately need the ce 2002 cd. I believe Dell mailed this to us but, at the time, my axim was lent out to a neice. Does anyone have the cd or a copy or a source. I have checked dell but so far, nothing.
The Axim never shipped with PPC2000. It will have PPC2002 or WM2003.
Dell no longer sells the WM2003 upgrade CD. However - passthrough did work on PPC2002 so the problem is not that you need an upgrade, it's a configuration problem.

I was one of the first to buy the axim and I have verified that the software on it is ppc2000. Almost immediately after I got it, my neice was shipped to IRAQ and I sent it with her for audiobooks, etc. Dell, in the meantime, sent out CDs with upgrades to PPC2002 for those of us with the original axims. That CD has been lost, my neice has safely returned and I cannot upgrade the axim or use it for internet without bringing it to ppc2002. I was willing to buy this but apparently only the PDA manufacturer's sell CE OS - not microsoft.

No. That's not correct. The X5 never shipped with PPC2000 and therefore there was never an update to 2002 offered by Dell for any model. I think you must be thinking of PPC2002 -> WM2003.
Regardless - Interent access works on both PPC2002 and WM2003. Dell does not sell the disc any more as mentioned so you can try and look for the WM2003 update on Ebay but you will never see an update to PPC2002.
And again - as I mentioned, you're looking for a solution to the problem but perhaps not the right solution. It is possible to have Internet access with PPC2002.

OK - you have convinced me. I will go through the setup procedure once again and try and connect. I am very familiar with XP and PCs but have (obviously) no experience with PDAs. Last week I spent 2 entire days trying to get audible to recognize the axim - partial success with the 2000 software, none with the 2002 but that may be due to user error. Thanks for taking the time to replay again. Give me a few days and I will let you know how I make out.

I went through all of the settings last night and found I was at bios A00 - downloaded the A04 from Dell and installed. Uninstalled and reinstalled all of my audible software and it works. I can see the axim, sd card etc.
Now to start thinking about wireless. (Have 1 gig sd card). Thank you for insisting I check again.
