does it matter which one

i have the linksys 802.11b wireless card does it matter what router i get or should i stay with a linksys router? i seen a linksys bef w11s4 for a good price after rebate it's a 802.11b or should i go with a g router?

Not really a big deal. In the event that you have to call tech support it's always easy for them to point the finger at the "other" vendor. So if you have a DLink router and Linksys card then it's an easy out for Linksys to say that the problem is not their card, it's the DLink router.

From a compatibility perspective though you should be fine mixing vendors.

As to b vs g it's a question of speed. If you only have a 256Kb/s DSL connection and you are only using one wireless device then neither b nor g are going to be stressed.

Yes and no

Not all cards are created equal and not all routers are created equal. I've certainly seen enough posts where some people have had minor to major compatibility issues when mixing cards and routers. However, generally speaking any given card should work acceptably with any given router. I have a 'matched set' in my Linksys router and Linksys CF card, but I've connected easily to other people's Motorola router, Netgear router, and even an off-brand I'd never heard of (a Wal-mart special). So, I'd tend to believe the quality of the card will be the more determinate factor.
